On Tuesday of this week, (December 23rd to be exact), we made arrangements for Santa Clause and one of his elves to come visit Tyler at home.
The doorbell rang and our friend Julie Kloberdanz was at the door. She had come to visit her friend Tyler.
After she was there for about 5 minutes, the doorbell rang again...Tyler looked at me with big eyes and said, "Danpa's here." He calls Julie and her husband Dan "Danma" and "Danpa" rather than grandma and grandpa. So he went running to the door expecting Danpa, and found Santa and an elf. He got the biggest eyes ever and giggled, then ran back to where his daddy was standing with his hand on his mouth. He kept putting his hand on his mouth and laughing and then looking down. I think he was nervous and excited all at the same time.
We invited Santa and his elf into the house and Santa said hello and pulled out a gift for Tyler. Tyler opened his gift and then told Santa "thank you" and gave him a big hug (because mommy said so). Santa also had gifts for mommy and daddy, (a light up fire station and a fire truck to go with it), which Tyler helped open.
I think Tyler was glad to see Santa and would have warmed up to him after a few minutes. But, unfortunately, Santa was very busy and had to go finish getting ready for Christmas Eve. Hopefully he can come back again next year. Maybe Tyler will talk to him more then.
After Santa and his elf left, the doorbell rang again. This time, I asked Tyler who could be at the door, and he got very excited and said, "Danpa!" This time he was right. Danpa and Dantie (Dan's daughter Miranda) were at the door. We told them they had just missed Santa Clause and his elf. They were so disappointed....
