Company Picnic

Okay, so I know I've already failed at updating our blog weekly. I have no excuse other than the fact that our lives just are not that interesting, nor does our daily activity change often enough for me to blog about it. Trust me, if I did you would be terribly bored and would never want to check our blog again...

That being said, we recently attended a family picnic for the fire department. We had planned to go as a family, but at the last minute John did a trade with another Lieutenant who desperately needed that day off. It was fine, Tyler and I went and had some good food and got to see some friends we don't see all that often anymore.

Tyler had fun playing with the other kids and playing at the big playground. He was soooo tired when we left that day.

This was some HUGE Frisbee that all the little kids thought was just the coolest thing they had ever seen. They used it for everything but a Frisbee. This thing made imaginations run wild for the teeny kids.

The balls Tyler is playing with go with some strange game. There are two balls attached together by a string and apparently you play the game similar to horse shoes, but throw them at bars that are at varying heights. Anyway, the small kids couldn't get enough of them. Every time I turned around Tyler or one of the other kids had swiped the balls from the game and were carrying them around.

So the name of this game is "Freak Out Mommy". For those of you who have known my husband most of his life, you'll understand...for the rest of you here is why. John has asthma, and with that come some crazy allergies that irritate the asthma. One of those allergies is to hay...which my son was sitting in. Thankfully, this was just oat hay, which John doesn't seem to have too much trouble with either. However, my other concern was that Tyler so far has shown no signs of asthma...thankfully...however, he does have some skin allergies. For instance, he'll pet a dog or cat and then five minutes later have hives all over his arms or face or neck or wherever the most contact was. Thankfully, he did not have any breathing or skin trouble after taking a "roll in the hay"

Okay, so the real point of this game was for the kids to dig through the hay to find money. They had put a ton of change in there. Tyler really had no idea what he was looking for, but as you can see from his left hand, he quickly picked up from the other kids that they were looking for something. Silly boy, he never found anything. It was probably gone by this point because I wouldn't let him in when the big kids were ferociously digging for their prizes or he would have been squashed...

Tyler found this unattended game and thought he should climb on it. It was cute, we weren't sure what he was going to do...you never know what is in their cute little heads.

He decided to sit, and it was cute enough to take a picture, unfortunately, I didn't have my camera so someone else took this picture. So this is not a pose, this is the result of the fact that Tyler didn't know the person who was taking his picture.

More shyness...but I think it's still a cute picture. He's trying to pretend he doesn't see the "stranger". It's so funny.
